Hearty Har

Hearty Har is a Los Angeles rock band formed in 2012 and led by brothers Shane and Tyler Fogerty, sons of Creedence Clearwater Revival's John Fogerty. The pair share guitar and vocals; the wider lineup includes Jesse Wilson on bass, Richard Millsap on drums, Douglas Lamothe on keyboards and Nick Stratton on guitar. Tyler has said the band's name occurred to him backstage at a Bruce Springsteen concert. The group blends modern psychedelia with classic garage rock, drawing on soul and psychedelic records from roughly 1965 to 1975, on Ennio Morricone's spaghetti western scores and Laurel Canyon rock, and on the synthesizer textures of Kraftwerk and ELO, with Tame Impala and Melody's Echo Chamber as contemporary reference points. It is a studio-first project: the brothers built their own analog recording room in a garage and record there almost exclusively. An earlier record made in 2014 left them dissatisfied and prompted a full reset of the band's approach. The five-song EP Crystal Shards, Vol. 1 appeared on February 20, 2018, and the eleven-track debut album Radio Astro followed on February 19, 2021 through BMG, built on fuzz guitar, horn arrangements and vintage studio effects. Their father contributed backing vocals to the Radio Astro track Scream and Shout! but was otherwise uninvolved, a distance the brothers have described as deliberate; both have separately played in his touring band, including on the Fogerty's Factory project. Later releases include the singles Can't Keep Waiting, Say Something and Children of Tomorrow. Hearty Har tours as a support act and plays regularly around Los Angeles, including at Gold Diggers in Hollywood.
