George Birge

George Birge is a country singer and songwriter from Austin, Texas, now based in Nashville. He started singing at fourteen and worked up through the bars of Austin's Sixth Street playing his own songs rather than covers. In 2013 he co-founded the duo Waterloo Revival with Cody Cooper, recording for Big Machine Records until the pair split in 2020. Birge began an independent solo career in 2021, and a TikTok exchange with the influencer Rynnstar turned his song Beer Beer, Truck Truck into a viral hit that drew close to three million views within two weeks and led to a deal with Barry Weiss's Records Nashville. His first solo EP, George Birge, followed in February 2022, and the single Mind on You reached number two on Billboard's Country Airplay chart that year. The full-length George Birge: Mind on You arrived in May 2023. He returned in April 2024 with the EP Cowboy Songs, whose title track became his first number one on Country Airplay; It Won't Be Long reached number three in 2025, and Ride, Ride, Ride, a duet with Luke Bryan, reached number twelve in 2026. Birge made his Grand Ole Opry debut on 22 November 2022. He continues to write for other artists, including Clay Walker, whose single Need a Bar Sometimes he co-wrote, as well as Colt Ford, Matt Stell, Chris Lane, and Gary LeVox and Jay DeMarcus of Rascal Flatts. He describes his aim as telling a story in a fresh way, in the manner of the country radio he grew up on.
