Gene Watson is an American country singer, born in Palestine, Texas and raised in Paris, Texas, who has performed professionally since the 1960s. He broke through with the 1975 Capitol Records hit Love in the Hot Afternoon and is best known for Farewell Party (1979) and Fourteen Carat Mind (1981). He was inducted into the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame in 2002 and became a Grand Ole Opry member in 2020.
