Geese is an American rock band formed in Brooklyn, New York in 2016, while its members were still in high school at Brooklyn Friends School and the Little Red School House. Early material was recorded in drummer Max Bassin's basement in Fort Greene, and the name comes from guitarist Emily Green's nickname, Goose. The group is now a quartet of Cameron Winter on lead vocals, keyboards and, since 2024, guitar; Green on guitar; Dominic DiGesu on bass; and Bassin on drums. Foster Hudson played guitar from 2019 to 2023, and Sam Revaz has toured with the band on keyboards since 2022. Geese self-released an EP and the album A Beautiful Memory in 2018, both since removed from streaming services, and had planned to break up when the members left for college in 2020, until their demos drew interest from several labels and they signed with Partisan Records and PIAS. Projector, their label debut, was released on 29 October 2021 and mixed by Dan Carey. 3D Country followed on 23 June 2023, produced by James Ford, with a companion EP of session outtakes, 4D Country, that October. Winter's solo album Heavy Metal, released in December 2024, drew wide acclaim and raised the band's profile considerably. Their fourth album, Getting Killed, came out on Partisan on 26 September 2025 and was named the best record of the year by Stereogum and The New Yorker. The band performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in October 2025 and Saturday Night Live in January 2026, and played Coachella, Lollapalooza, Primavera Sound and Bonnaroo during 2026. Critics variously describe the music as indie rock, art rock, post-punk and experimental rock; the members cite the Velvet Underground, Television, the Strokes and Radiohead among their influences, and Winter's shifting vocal registers are a frequent point of comment.
