Gavin Adcock is an American country singer-songwriter, born Gavin David Adcock on 9 October 1998 in Athens, Georgia and raised on his family's cattle farm in nearby Watkinsville. He played football at Oconee County High School as a defensive end and offensive guard, earning All-Region honours twice, then attended Georgia Southern University from 2019 to 2022, majoring in management and playing nose tackle before being removed from the team in October 2021. A knee injury during spring football in 2021 pushed him toward music full time, and he released his first single, Ain't No Cure, while recovering. The EP Thrivin Here followed in January 2022 and the independent album Bonfire Blackout in May 2023, both on his own Thrivin' Here imprint. He signed with Warner Music Nashville and is managed by Red Light Management. His major-label debut album, Actin' Up Again, arrived on 2 August 2024 and reached No. 82 on the Billboard 200 and No. 19 on Top Country Albums. Own Worst Enemy, released 15 August 2025, did considerably better, peaking at No. 14 on the Billboard 200 and No. 4 on Top Country Albums. Never Call Again became his first country radio single in 2025 and climbed to No. 30 on Country Airplay; Wannabe reached No. 44 in 2026 and previews a third Warner album, The Day I Hang It Up, scheduled for 2 October 2026. His breakout streaming track, A Cigarette, has passed 150 million plays. Adcock's sound is filed as country, country rock, outlaw country and Southern rock, and he plays arenas and amphitheatres across the South with a full band. He drew wide attention in June 2025 when he criticised Beyonce's Cowboy Carter from the stage for topping country charts, prompting debate over genre boundaries.
