Front Porch
bluegrass · roots · americana
Front Porch is an Arkansas bluegrass and American roots band made up of John Henry on guitar, Cameron Keeling on bass, Alex Hawf on mandolin and Petey Wesley on banjo and fiddle. The group works from traditional string-band instrumentation, including clawhammer banjo alongside mandolin, guitar and fiddle, but pulls material and improvising habits in from outside bluegrass; Ozark Highlands Radio has characterised the result as old-time acid jazz barn-burning bluegrass fusion. They independently released the album Shallow Grave, a nine-song set including Empires and Lifeboat, in 2023, and have since issued an eleven-track second album, Toolbox, whose songs include Great Grandaddy's Barn and Anchor and which draws writing contributions from all four members rather than a single songwriter. Front Porch was nominated for bluegrass band of the year at the Arkansas Country Music Awards in 2024 and again in 2025, headlines regional festivals, and has supported Bela Fleck, Sierra Hull, the Infamous Stringdusters and Del McCoury.
