Erykah Badu is a singer and songwriter from Dallas, Texas and a central figure in the neo-soul movement of the 1990s. Her 1997 debut album Baduizm was certified triple platinum and won Grammy Awards for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance and Best R&B Album; later releases include Mama's Gun (2000), New Amerykah Part One (2008) and New Amerykah Part Two (2010).
