Elliott Peck

Elliott Peck is a San Francisco Bay Area Americana singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, best known as a founding vocalist and guitarist in the band Midnight North. She started that group in the early 2010s alongside Grahame Lesh and bassist Connor O'Sullivan; it took the Midnight North name with the 2013 release End of the Night and has since issued Scarlet Skies (2015), Under the Lights (2017), the concert album Selections from the Great American Music Hall (2018) and There's Always a Story (2021), the band's first studio record as a quartet after drummer Nathan Graham joined. Peck began performing with Phil Lesh and Friends in 2012 and toured as a member of Phil Lesh and the Terrapin Family Band from 2017 to 2019, work she credits with shaping a more improvisational approach to arrangement and songwriting. She has also sung harmony behind Bob Weir, Stephen Stills and Lukas Nelson. Her solo debut, Further From the Storm, arrived in 2018 and was recorded in Oakland with producer Karl Derfler. The 2023 EP In the Pines, produced by Ryan MacCaffrey at Sun Machine Studio in Novato, California, gathers three originals and a reading of the Dolly Parton and Chet Atkins song Do I Ever Cross Your Mind; she marked its release with a show at Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley featuring guest bassist Reed Mathis. Peck's music draws on classic country, blues, rhythm and blues and jazz, and she characterizes her own writing in terms of plainspoken, unflinching honesty rather than genre allegiance. She has performed at the Newport Folk Festival, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass and the Americana Music Festival in Nashville, and works with the label Blue Rose Music.
