Elle King, born Tanner Elle Schneider in Los Angeles County, California, in 1989, is an American singer, songwriter and actress whose music draws on country, rock and blues. She is the daughter of comedian Rob Schneider and model London King, was raised largely in Ohio after her parents divorced in her infancy, and took her mother's surname professionally. She signed with RCA Records and released her debut extended play, The Elle King EP, in 2012; its track Playing for Keeps became the theme song for the VH1 series Mob Wives Chicago. Her debut album, Love Stuff, followed in 2015 and produced Ex's and Oh's, a banjo-driven single that reached number ten on the Billboard Hot 100 and drew two Grammy nominations at the 58th Grammy Awards. She has been nominated four times in total, across rock and country categories. Shake the Spirit arrived in 2018, and Come Get Your Wife in 2023 completed a move toward country made on records rather than announced. Her duet with Dierks Bentley, Different for Girls, won CMA Musical Event of the Year in 2016, and Drunk (And I Don't Wanna Go Home), recorded with Miranda Lambert, became a country chart hit in 2021. As an actress she appeared as a child in Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo in 1999 and The Benchwarmers in 2006, and has since made television guest appearances. Her live show leans on the rock and blues end of the catalog, with a full band and a vocal style closer to roadhouse blues than to contemporary Nashville production.
