DUUNES
alternative rock · indie rock
DUUNES is the alternative rock project of New York City singer, songwriter and guitarist Harrison Cohen, who fronts a live band rounded out by guitarists Mike Squillante and Ryder Stuart, bassist Max Barrett and drummer Jimmy Caltrider. Cohen introduced the project with the single Fever Dream in 2023 and followed it on 3 May 2024 with the debut EP Vacation From Myself, made with producers Jason, Jordan and Cass Dillon. Cohen has described writing the EP from instrumental foundations outward rather than melody first, a reversal of his usual solo method; Lovebomb, the first song written under the DUUNES name, borrows the clipped, staccato guitar figures he admires in Interpol, and the record also holds Higher, Wild, Emotional Damage and Delusional. Delusional was picked for Spotify's Best of Fresh Finds Rock 2024, and the project has drawn editorial placement on Apple Music and Amazon Music as well. A cover of Cage the Elephant's Ain't No Rest for the Wicked circulated widely on short-form video, drawing tens of millions of views and pulling listeners toward the original material. DUUNES has played SXSW, sold out headline dates in New York and Boston, and supported touring acts including Passion Pit, Five for Fighting and Joe P, the last at Racket in Manhattan. In March 2025 the band taped a session for New York public radio station WFUV, performing Ballerina Figures and Afterlife. Cohen names The Killers, Young the Giant, Arctic Monkeys, Queens of the Stone Age and Barns Courtney as reference points, and the songs pair large choruses with a dry, guitar-forward attack and unsmoothed vocals. A debut full-length album is planned for 2026.
