Downey Chase

Downey Chase is the solo project of Nic Lussier, vocalist and guitarist of the indie rock group The Brazen Youth. Based in Colorado, the project trades his band's fuller arrangements for stripped-back, introspective indie folk songwriting, and the band's own materials attribute that shift in part to his relocation west. The songs pair nature imagery with first-person storytelling, aiming at what the project describes as both the movement and the stillness of ordinary life; recent releases include a room in motion and There Is a Life I Must Find. The Brazen Youth, his other outlet, is a recording project shared with Micah Rubin and Charles Dahlke and based in Lyme, Connecticut, with a catalog that includes The Ever Dying Bristlecone Man, Primitive Initiative, 15 BILLION EYES, the Changing EP and the live album Live From Ashlawn. Downey Chase performs the material in small rooms and listening-room settings rather than the rock clubs that suit the band.
