Denyce Graves
Denyce Graves is an American mezzo-soprano, born in Washington, D.C., in 1964, best known for the title roles in Carmen and Samson et Dalila. She made her Metropolitan Opera debut in 1995, sang at the 2001 memorial service at Washington National Cathedral and at the 2005 presidential inauguration, began directing opera in 2022, and retired from performing in 2026.
