Def Leggend

Tribute to Def Leppard

rock · pop rock

Def Leggend is a Def Leppard tribute band based in Dallas, Texas, founded in 2013 by guitarist Mike Hamill. The five-piece assigns each member a counterpart in the group it recreates: Justin Whitehead sings the Joe Elliott parts, Hamill and John Inman cover the Phil Collen and Vivian Campbell guitar roles, Taylor Dennis plays bass in the Rick Savage position and Ronnie Dean drums in Rick Allen's. Its members are veteran Dallas-area players, several with time in other touring acts. Rather than working clubs on a backline, the band stages a full arena-rock production, citing a quarter-million-dollar investment in touring gear including pyrotechnics, LED video and programmed lighting, and it draws its set list from four decades and roughly ten Def Leppard albums. A variant billed as the Eras Show concentrates on the Pyromania and Hysteria records. Def Leggend reports more than 500 dates across the United States and Mexico over roughly a decade of touring, working restored theaters, House of Blues rooms and the casino circuit alongside motorcycle rallies and outdoor festivals such as the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, Daytona Beach Bike Week, Moondance Jam and Thunder by the Bay. Phil Collen of Def Leppard has publicly praised the group's show. Its routing favors small and mid-sized markets, and current dates include performing-arts theaters and taverns in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin and Kansas.
