Deep Purple

Deep Purple is a British hard rock band formed in London in 1968 and a foundational act in hard rock and heavy metal. Its best-known lineup paired Ian Gillan, Ritchie Blackmore, Jon Lord, Roger Glover and Ian Paice on albums including Deep Purple in Rock (1970) and Machine Head (1972), which carries Smoke on the Water. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016.
