David Wimbish

David Wimbish is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Greensboro, North Carolina. He leads the indie folk group The Collection, active since 2009, whose releases include Ars Moriendi and Entropy, and he also records and tours as David Wimbish & The Collection. His solo Bandcamp catalogue is deliberately smaller in scale than the band's. On Separation, a five-song EP issued on June 30, 2015, was written, performed and mixed entirely by Wimbish, who restricted himself to voice, guitar and strings to put the weight on the songwriting; it was recorded at home, with television and door noise from the house left audible in the finished mix, and takes estrangement and marital separation as its subject. Surface Tension followed on September 4, 2020, a nine-track album in the same acoustic, folk-leaning singer-songwriter idiom. He has also issued the standalone tracks Haven't Kept The Weight Off and 2:4.
