Daley

Daley is a British soul and R&B singer and songwriter, born Gareth Daley and raised in Manchester, England, known for a high, agile falsetto and for songwriting that sits between classic soul and alternative R&B. He cites Prince, Chaka Khan, Sade, George Michael and Radiohead among his influences. His first wide exposure came as guest vocalist on the Gorillaz single Doncamatic, released in late 2010, which reached number 37 in the UK. He followed it with the free mixtape Those Who Wait in 2011 and the Alone Together EP in 2012 for Republic Records; its title track, a duet with Marsha Ambrosius, reached number five on the US Adult R&B chart. A second free release, Songs That Remind Me of You, arrived in 2013. His debut album, Days + Nights, came out in February 2014 on Polydor and Republic and peaked at 128 on the Billboard 200, carrying Remember Me with Jessie J, a UK top 40 single, and Look Up, produced by Pharrell Williams. A second album, The Spectrum, was released by BMG in July 2017 and reached number seven on Billboard's Heatseekers chart, led by Until the Pain Is Gone with Jill Scott, another US Adult R&B top five. He has also worked with Stevie Wonder and Robert Glasper, and has drawn nominations from the MOBO, BET and Soul Train awards. After a long absence that followed his father's death, he returned with the singles Lavender and Slide ahead of a third studio album, and has resumed touring US clubs and listening rooms.
