Cristina Vane

americana · blues · folk

Cristina Vane is a Nashville-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who plays slide guitar and clawhammer banjo, blending blues, bluegrass, folk and rock. Born in the foothills of the Italian Alps to an American father and a Guatemalan mother, she was raised between Italy, England and France and moved to the United States to attend Princeton University. She began writing songs as a teenager, discovered slide guitar during a summer in London, and after settling in Los Angeles worked at the McCabe's guitar shop, studied fingerstyle guitar with Pete Steinberg, taught herself clawhammer banjo and busked on the Venice boardwalk. Her first tour, the crowdfunded Show Me Your Hometown Tour, ran six months and had her living out of a tent, her car and friends' couches. Her debut album Nowhere Sounds Lovely, written largely on a cross-country road trip, was produced by Cactus Moser and released in 2021, and drew comparisons to a young Bonnie Raitt in American Songwriter. She then moved to Nashville, and the 2022 follow-up Make Myself Me Again, co-produced with Jano Rix of the Wood Brothers and engineered by Brook Sutton, works through that transition on songs including Small Town Nashville Blues. Her third album Hear My Call appeared in February 2025 and spans Delta blues, rockabilly, bluegrass and folk-pop across thirteen tracks, with its title song a duet with Molly Tuttle. Guests across her records include JD Simo, Kenny Vaughan, Bronwyn Keith-Hynes and Brenna MacMillan. Vane tours nationally with a band and has opened for Bob Weir, Jerry Douglas, Wynonna Judd, Sam Bush and Molly Tuttle, with festival appearances including Under the Big Sky and the Four Corners Folk Festival.
