Colby Acuff

Colby Acuff is a country and honky-tonk singer-songwriter from Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, born October 15, 1996. He began performing at twelve, graduated from the University of Idaho, and turned down a junior stockbroker position to pursue music; he was working as a fly-fishing guide at Orvis Northwest Outfitters when touring stopped during the COVID-19 pandemic. He released records independently beginning with Life of a Rolling Stone in 2020, followed by If I Were the Devil in 2021, whose title track drew roughly six million streams in its first six months, and Honky Tonk Heaven in 2022. He signed with Sony Music Nashville on May 5, 2023, and issued his major-label debut Western White Pines on June 9 of that year; the album was produced by Eddie Spear at Sound Emporium Studios in Nashville and was expanded into a deluxe edition later in 2023. He made his Grand Ole Opry debut on August 1, 2023. American Son followed in 2024 and Enjoy the Ride in 2025. Acuff then parted ways with the label and spent roughly eighteen months reworking his approach before releasing Handmade Horsepower independently in 2026, an eleven-track record he wrote entirely on his own, his first solo-written album since Honky Tonk Heaven, accompanied by a short film of the same name. He has described it as planting a flag for the kind of artist he intends to be, citing Sturgill Simpson's mid-career pivot as a model. The songs lean on 1970s outlaw country and rock and roll and take aim at the music business on tracks including Lipstick on a Pig, Long Hauling Blues, Play for Keeps and White Flag. Saving Country Music rated the album 8.2 out of 10. He toured it across the United States as the Handmade Horsepower Tour in 2026.
