Cody Parks and The Dirty South

Cody Parks and The Dirty South is a Nashville, Tennessee band founded in 2019 by frontman and songwriter Cody Parks, who was born and raised in Georgia. The group plays what it calls country metal, pairing Southern roots songwriting with the riffs, breakdowns and guitar solos of 1980s and 1990s hard rock. Its own shorthand for the sound is Def Leppard on cornbread, and it cites Motley Crue, Ratt and Pantera alongside traditional country as touchstones. The catalog is built on EPs rather than full-length albums. Smothered & Covered, released in 2023, is a covers set that includes Long Haired Country Boy, Grundy County Cowboys and the mashup Thunder Cash '69; that track topped the iTunes rock chart in three countries and reached number three on Billboard's Rock Digital Song Sales chart, which gave the band its first national visibility. Country Metal, Vol. 1 collects originals including Water in the Well, Country Alive, Burned Out, Heat and Trouble with Trouble, and a further Country Metal compilation gathers songs such as Redneck Rich, Girls and Gasoline and a reading of Seminole Wind. In March 2026 the band signed to BLKIIBLK, an imprint of the Frontiers Label Group, and announced the deal with the single and video Snake Shaker. Beginning that month it toured the United States as direct support for Steel Panther, a run that continued into May. Outside those support dates it keeps an independent club and festival schedule that reaches well beyond the South, with recent shows in Maryland, Florida, Michigan, New York and Pennsylvania.
