CODY PARKS

Cody Parks and The Dirty South is a Nashville, Tennessee band founded in 2019 by frontman and songwriter Cody Parks, who was born and raised in rural Georgia. He grew up hearing 1970s and 1980s hard rock and metal from his father alongside the classic country, 1990s country and Southern rock that surrounded him locally, and played drums in rock and metal bands before turning to writing. When he did, country storytelling proved the more honest fit for his own life, so he kept the narratives country and the music heavy. The group plays what it calls country metal, summed up by the band as Def Leppard on cornbread, pairing Southern roots songwriting with big riffs, breakdowns and guitar solos drawn from Metallica, Motley Crue, Ratt and Pantera. Its 2023 EP Smothered & Covered produced singles that reached No. 2 and No. 7 on iTunes charts, and a covers release yielded Thunder Cash '69, which topped iTunes rock charts in three countries and reached No. 3 on Billboard's Rock Digital Song Sales chart. The EP Country Metal, Vol. 1 followed, and a seven-track Country Metal compilation is sold alongside both. In March 2026 the band signed with BLKIIBLK, a sister label to Frontiers Music Srl, and released Snake Shaker on 17 March 2026 as its major-label debut single, with Frontiers A&R head Tom Lipsky publicly backing the signing. That spring the band toured as direct support on Steel Panther's Twenty Twenty $ex Tour, and it works a heavy independent circuit of clubs and festivals from Florida to Michigan and Pennsylvania.
