Caamp is a folk and Americana band from Upper Arlington, a suburb of Columbus, Ohio, started by childhood friends Taylor Meier and Evan Westfall, who met at summer camp as middle-school students and began performing together in 2013 as a duo of voice, guitar and banjo. The group has since grown to a five-piece with Matt Vinson on bass, Joseph Kavalec on keys and Nicholas Falk on drums. Its self-titled debut appeared in 2016 and Boys followed in 2018, both on Square Roots; By & By (2019) was the band's first for Mom + Pop Music and debuted at number one on Billboard's Heatseekers Albums chart. Live from Newport Music Hall, taped at the Columbus room the band came up in, arrived in 2020, and Lavender Days followed in 2022, peaking at number 83 on the Billboard 200. The most recent record, Copper Changes Color, was released on 6 June 2025 through the band's own By and By Music imprint with distribution by Mom + Pop; it was written, performed and produced by the band, recorded over roughly two years at studios including Sonic Ranch in Texas and Sear Sound in New York, and co-produced with Beatriz Artola and Tucker Martine. By and By and Vagabond are certified gold by the RIAA, and Believe, Let Things Go and Mistakes have each topped Billboard's Adult Alternative Airplay chart. Meier's plain, close-mic'd singing and Westfall's banjo remain the group's signature, filled out on record and on stage by keys, bass and drums. Caamp tours amphitheatres and theatres across North America, the UK and Ireland, with headline dates including Radio City Music Hall and Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
