Bryson Tiller is an American R&B and hip-hop singer and rapper, born Bryson Djuan Tiller on January 2, 1993, in Louisville, Kentucky. He lost his mother at the age of four and was raised by his grandmother, and began putting out music in 2011. His breakthrough came from a self-released track rather than a label campaign: "Don't", posted to SoundCloud in October 2014, drew industry attention, eventually reached number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified quintuple platinum. RCA signed him, and his debut album Trapsoul followed on October 2, 2015. It entered the Billboard 200 at number 11, later climbed to number eight, was certified triple platinum, and produced the further singles "Exchange", which earned a Grammy nomination, and "Sorry Not Sorry". The album's title became shorthand for its method, sung and half-rapped vocals about romantic regret set over slow, bass-heavy trap production, and the term outlived the record to become a genre label used for a wave of R&B that followed. His second album, True to Self, arrived in 2017 and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. That same year he appeared alongside Rihanna on DJ Khaled's "Wild Thoughts", one of the largest singles of the summer. Anniversary, released in 2020 to mark five years of Trapsoul, peaked at number five, and a self-titled 2024 album entered at number twelve and yielded the top-20 single "Whatever She Wants". Tiller has received four Grammy nominations and multiple BET Awards. He tours as an arena and amphitheatre headliner, with dates at rooms such as Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, the Moody Center in Austin and the iTHINK Financial Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach.
