Blitzkid

Blitzkid is an American horror punk band from Bluefield, West Virginia, formed in early 1997 by singer-guitarist TB Monstrosity and singer-bassist Argyle Goolsby, who have remained the band's constant core through a long rotation of drummers and side players including Dr. Chud, Ricko Mortis, JV Bastard, Billy Bones and Andrew Winter. The group is generally counted among the acts that carried the horror punk style forward after the Misfits, pairing B-movie imagery with melodic, hard-driving songwriting. Its studio catalog runs from the independent Terrifying Tales (2000) through Let Flowers Die (2001) and Trace of a Stranger (2003) for Antidote Records, Five Cellars Below (2006) and Anatomy of Reanimation Vol. 1 (2008) for the German label Fiendforce, and Apparitional (2011) for Century Media. Europe became the band's strongest market: Blitzkid played 260 dates in 2006, supported The Damned in Prague in 2007, appeared at Summer Breeze Open Air in Germany in 2007 and again in 2011, played the main stage at M'era Luna in 2008, and performed at Amphi Festival in Cologne in July 2010. TB Monstrosity announced in 2011 that family commitments would end his touring, and the band closed out with a 2012 farewell run through Germany, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic and Slovakia that included a first headline show in Russia at Moscow's Relax Club and an appearance at Whitby Goth Weekend. Goolsby spent the following years on solo and side projects. The pair reunited in June 2019 for tribute shows in Teaneck, New Jersey, then announced the Escape the Grave reunion tour, delayed by the pandemic from 2020 to 2022. A new album, Modern Hel, followed in 2026 on Corpse With No Name Productions.
