Belmont is a pop punk band from Chicago, Illinois, formed in 2014 while its members were still in high school. It was started by frontman Taz Johnson, and the early lineup settled around guitarist Sam Patt, bassist Alex Wieringa and drummer Brian Lada. The group now operates as a trio of Johnson on lead vocals, Lada on drums, guitars, bass and programming, and Jason Inguagiato on lead guitar. Belmont built an audience through a pair of early EPs, the self-released Vicissitude in 2015 and Between You & Me on Mutant League Records in 2016, before releasing its self-titled debut album through Mutant League in 2018; that record reached number 146 on the Billboard 200. The band then signed with Pure Noise Records, issuing the EP Reflections in 2020 and the album Aftermath in 2022. A 2020 tour was cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the band redirected that time into writing. Its third album, Liminal, arrived on Pure Noise on April 12, 2024, running twelve songs and roughly thirty-nine minutes and pushing past the group's pop punk roots into denser, more technically involved arrangements that the label and press have described as progressive punk. Belmont has toured with Senses Fail, The Amity Affliction, Sleeping with Sirens and Tiny Moving Parts.
