Bee Blackwell
Bee Blackwell is an alternative rock singer and songwriter based in Austin, Texas, whose 1990s-influenced sound grew out of the emo and grunge covers she began posting online in 2023. She had played in rock bands through high school and college before those covers, several of which circulated widely, gave her an audience for original material. Her debut EP, Calico, followed, and in 2024 she released the singles Dumb, The Same and Signs. LALALA opened her 2025 run and introduced the EP Nine Lives, released on 20 June 2025 and written, self-produced and recorded by Blackwell across a three-day session at Sonic Ranch during a sabbatical. She has described LALALA as a conversation between two people who have not spoken in years. The record pairs atmospheric guitar hooks and steady percussion with emo-leaning melody and lyrics about self-discovery and coming of age, sung in a high, sustained register. Her Bandcamp page also carries a release titled New Familiar. In 2026 she opened the North American leg of Julia Wolf's Deep End World Tour, running from 17 September to 25 October across roughly twenty cities, with the European leg supported instead by Wolf's producer Scro. Her publicity is handled by Big Hassle.
