Bedouine is the recording name of singer-songwriter Azniv Korkejian, a folk and Americana artist born 15 July 1985 in Aleppo, Syria to an Armenian family and now based in Los Angeles. She spent her first ten years in Saudi Arabia, attending an American school where MTV sat alongside Armenian and Arabic music, before her family won the US green-card lottery and moved to Massachusetts and then Houston, Texas, where she finished high school. She later studied sound design in Savannah, Georgia. The name derives from the Arabic Bedouin, a nod both to the nomadic pattern of her own life and to the displacement in her Armenian family history. Her self-titled debut, Bedouine, appeared on Spacebomb Records in 2017, produced by Gus Seyffert and set against the label's house string and horn arrangements, and was followed by the twelve-track Bird Songs of a Killjoy (Spacebomb, 2019). Waysides (2021) was self-released and assembled from demos written across roughly fifteen years. Neon Summer Skin, released 5 June 2026 through Thirty Tigers in partnership with her own Bedouine Music imprint and again produced with Seyffert, grew out of a return visit to her family in Saudi Arabia and works through family history, upbringing and a longing for safety. Her writing is unhurried and close-miked, built on fingerpicked nylon-string guitar and a low, conversational voice, and is regularly compared to Karen Dalton and Nick Drake. She has toured North America, the UK and Europe as a headliner and opened for Fleet Foxes, Jose Gonzalez, Father John Misty and Waxahatchee, with festival appearances including Newport Folk Festival and Pickathon.
