BACKWHEN is a Denver, Colorado-based electronic producer and DJ prominent in the phonk, wave, and trap music movements. Launching the project in 2015, he is known for layering atmospheric, ethereal melodies and vocal samples over heavy 808s and hard-hitting percussion. He is a founding member of the underground phonk collective Purple Posse and the founder of the independent label NeonBody. BACKWHEN performs regularly across the Denver electronic circuit, including appearances at Cervantes' Masterpiece Ballroom and The Black Box.
