Altan is an Irish traditional band founded in 1987 in Gweedore, County Donegal, by fiddler and singer Mairead Ni Mhaonaigh and flute player Frankie Kennedy, with Ciaran Curran on bouzouki and Mark Kelly on guitar. Drawing on Donegal fiddle music and Irish-language song, the group has recorded for Green Linnet, Virgin and Compass Records, including The Red Crow (1990) and Island Angel (1993).
